Bedroom design dilemma

I’m waiting to make our bedroom a bit more interesting and feel something is a bit off. The walls are Dulux ‘Timeless’ and the headboard is a dark blue. Curtains are floor to ceiling in a light grey. I’d like to change the bedside tables and lights but feel something is missing even after that. What do you think?

It does look nice with a colour, no idea if it works with the carpet or curtains though!

Hi, personally I’d use that alcove as a dressing area. Remove the middle 2 shelves, add a mirror plus a storage stool for all your bits. I added a navy one (which still doesn’t match your bed but can’t work out what grey the curtains/carpets are assuming you want neutral). I’d go for plug-in lights (or the one on the left could be a floor lamp) and add art to your taste over the bed. I think the bed needs a throw, I added an ochre plus the same in natural not knowing if you want colour!

It just looks a bit unfinished. Definitely a throw on the bed as Minnie suggests, artwork on the walls. Would you consider a feature wall behind the bed? Something in a soft pink, not bright, but say Farrow & Balls Calamine or Pink Ground. Then maybe introduce some warm metals like brass in the lighting. I love Minnie’s dressing table idea!

Hi guys, I’m at a loss of what kind of other furniture I can add in here. The chimney flute is so close to the bed that I can only fit one locker by the bed. Wondering what I can do with the other side as I have the chimney wall it’s just not even with the other side. I have a walk in wardrobe so I don’t need wardrobe space or anything but looking for suggestions on how to make this room more relaxing and zen for sweet dreams :)

Hi Con, I just saw your question. I have 3 ideas, il add pictures below. 1 - I love the idea of a platform reading nook with built-in storage at the bottom. 2 - You could build a custom desk and use it as a home office 3 - Have custom built in wardrobes made to fit the space. Fab idea Minnie! Yes it would be perfect as a dressing area.
If you are short on floor space then I suggest adding wall mounted bedside lights (even corded ones) and a small shelf for phone/water/book etc.

Personally either a large picture as Minnie mocked up behind the bed or a feature wallpaper. I know the latter might be hard due to the alcoves so maybe one large picture or multiples would be easier

I like it with the pink Minnie, it warms it up and adds a bit of interest.

Thank you so much for your suggestions! Can definitely see how it needs a slight reshuffle! I’m not a huge fan of pink, but would something like F&B ‘Pigeon’ work as a feature wall and brass wall lights to warm it up? The cushions have gold thread and have a lot of brass items around the home so nicely pulls this into the room xx

I really like the soft colors, the contrast between dark blue and white. It seems to be minimalist, very stylish. It looks like what we chose for our home. Little details make the room cozy and nice.

Hi Chloe, I think green, like Pigeon, would go very well and it looks fab with brass. It’s such a soft colour it won’t clash with anything else in the room. I think a big piece of art above the bed, a la minnie101, would look fab. This picture is the paler Cromarty because I just couldn’t find a bedroom in Pigeon! Goes nice with the navy bedding.
