Front Door Help Needed!

Hello! We are slowly renovating our "millennium builder" style house on the West Coast. Orange clay tile roof, stucco, two-tone brick details. My style is typically modern but I think the house is begging for a more transitional style because of all of it's symmetry.

I looked at door on houzz for a short time. Seems as though a few things come into play. If you want to accentuate the vertical lines of your entrance, go vertical. If you want a more understated look whereby we see your door and panels as one -- then go either same color as door on the handle if possible and the only things showing will be the lock. I prefer a smaller handle or a horizontal plane for a handle because horizontal is a more relaxed look. vertical creates tension. So, look under: Photos, then Modern, and type Front door in the search parameter. Hope this is helpful. :=)

Thanks for the feedback, we had something similar in mind. Would you suggest bringing the door out to the front? What about the windows either side, we would think about replacing maybe in a different colour, possibly grey, and add some cedar cladding to the house front and paint walls grey. We are also toying with the idea of bring double doors out to the front with arclight over head and then to add coving around the windows with arc that mirrors the arc light to try and soften the whole angular look to to the front. It really depends on the size. Dark wood doors and floors and stairs may be a bit heavy on the eye. If the rooms are large and bright then it could take it but personally think it could be overkill in a smaller space. Hope this helps
