This porch is on a concrete slab, on the ground.

Hi. totally off point but.... Have you ever considered a real interesting eye catching piece of art work to really brighten up this area I think a select piece of art would really make the space stand out, add interest, colour, texture and add a great talking/thinking point to the room.... Please check out my website if like the idea and please get in contact, commission work is also welcomed so if you like a particular style I can do in a select colour palette and size but with this it can only be done as a original piece and not a print..... but all prints i can do to the same size or smaller than my original paintings, so lots of options........ I disagree. This is standard whitewood T&G flooring. It's generally laid across joists by builders on the first floor of two storey houses as a cheap subfloor ready to take a floor finish. I've seen it sanded and varnished / stained and while it looks OK for a few months, it doesn't wear well as it's a (very) soft wood and is very noisy, particularly in the rooms under. If you want a wood finish without breaking the bank, there are some good laminates that you can lay over the T&G boards. A semi-engineered board would be better but will cost a bit more.

Would you consider painting your stair railings it would look stunning with soft white paneling and a warm colour on top and in hindsight maybe it wont need a rug..?

I live in a rented property so unfortunately I’m not permitted to paint the walls. I’m stuck with a boring magnolia on the walls in the living room. The floors are a light wood and the sofas are dark brown leather. I have bought this rug - see photo. I would like to add some nice curtains and cushions to make the room warm and cosy but I’m not sure what colours to go for. Any advice much appreciated, thank you.
