Vaulted Ceiling Lighting

I am currently looking for contemporary pendant chandelier lights for a vaulted garage conversion. At it's peak where the lights will hang from, the ceiling will be 4m+

Can anyone offer any guidance on how low they should hang. I'm keen on some I've found on Made.com with a 1m cable and 68cm tall chandelier fixture but I'm concerned it will be still be too high up in the ceiling!

Any other recommendations for similar lighting sellers other than Made also appreciated.

A good electrician will be best to replace the cable to lengthen them and will guide you as to the height placement for optimum light splay in the room - without seeing it - I’d say try to leave at least 2.4m of clear space below - but also look at any beams or lower ceiling areas in the space and take into consideration shadow lines from them, dependent on where you place these lights .

also - if this is going to be a place where you are swinging kettle bells around or skipping with a rope ( a gym in other words ) then you need more clearance below !

Thanks for the feedback, there will definitely be at least 2.4m clearance. The issue is more likely to be how high is too high as the apex of the ceiling will be 4.5m.

I don't really want to pay for an adjustment on top of the cost of the fitting. So is 2.9m clearance acceptable or will it look like it's lost up there.

I find it hard to judge from vaulted ceiling photos what is the norm.

I think it can be stunning! I agree with cabinets to the ceiling except use cdrown molding for the English look you desire. By all means good lighting however to achieve the look do not use harsh lighting. Have dimmers and have a smallish lamp on one of your countertops for ambient lighting. I do suggest Carrera marble if you go grey or hammered stainless (to resemble pewter) if you go dark blue for your countertops and pl;ease consider hanging some antique mirror. I have a wonderful photo of a tiny deep blue kitchen and cannot seem to lay my hands on it. If I find it soon I will post it for you. I hope you will go for it and post photos! Hope this helps. :)

Since you want a traditional look, that light in the dining room just will not do. How tall is the room? If it's sufficiently tall (it looks that way), you could look into a chandelier to replace the pendant in there now! Hey folks I think I have gone a little wrong in my kitchen lighting and wiring plan. I have a mildly vaulted ceiling (so it's high) and originally i had planned to run a kitchen island down the centre with the table across the door at the back. So i positioned the two pendant light cables accordingly down the centre. There is a ring of spot lights all around the edge of the room. Now the island will be shifted right closer to the main worktop and the table will run parallel on the other side closer to the door leaving my two centre lights hanging over nothing as such. Moving/extending the cables is going to be challenging. Will this look at bit daft? Any suggestions of light fittings for this sort of scenario? The purpose of the pendant lights are for more atmosphere and will be a warmer light than the recess lights.

The room is also approx 5.5x5.5 and we were planning to have two of these in the room, but I'm also wondering whether one central one would be more appropriate?

I thought a drawing could help with design input. The purple is a hipped roof line, the green is a dormer window and two velux windows.

What do anyone think of one central feature chandelier vs two in line with the velux windows?

Also keen for input on size and length of chandelier suitable for the space.
