For me it's the colour of the walls that doesn't work. Hard to tell from the pics , are walls peach coloured tiles or exposed building blocks?

Consider a circular rug and side tables for the sofa. I would also find bigger plants or raise those up.

Personally I think the traditional sofa sits a little uncomfortably next to contemporary table but at least they are similar colours. I think when you have added a pale rug you will like it much more.

Perhaps dressing the windows with blinds or curtains would soften the look.
I like the mix of traditional and modern. Just needs some soft furnishings.

Agree with dressing the windows, if it is possible to have some extra width to be able to reduced the amount of exposed blocks between windows might help to soften the walls and reduce the dominance of their colour.

Oh my God! That room is beautiful! It doesn't look like the same room, the first pic done it no justice! The walls now don't look bad at all! I think the rug goes well. Stunning room!

I agree about the difference the rug makes in the latest picture but would also change the colour of the dining chairs’ upholstery to match or tone with the terracotta colour in the rug.

This shows photos can be deceiving, or at least give the wrong impression.

Your last photo quite literally shows your room in a different (and much better) light.

Wow what a room! So much beautiful light pouring in those huge windows. I too can’t believe it’s the same room to your first pics. Rug is nice, but if budget allows I would go bigger? I think rectangular would look great as in celerygirl‘ second picture, but I am nit picking as that room is stunning! 😊
