Money doesn’t buy taste...
Have just watched Channel 4’s ‘Inside Britain’s most expensive home’.
If I remember the figures correctly, the property was bought for £86M and refurbished for £69M, give or take a few million.
Money well spent?
Well not in my ‘humble’ opinion. :-)
There was literally nothing I liked about it.
I don’t begrudge this 66 year old billionaire and am grateful I don’t have to live in such a monstrosity.
Luckily for him he has a 30 year old girlfriend who really loves him for the man he is and not for his wealth.
No, really.

Comments (8)Thanks Chemayne, yes, that is correct re: position of the bed. There is a small bedroom behind where the bed is currently and ultimately i'd like to turn it into a walk in robe. That's funny, i never considered the grey bed to be masculine, although my mum didn't like it so maybe that should have been a clue! I keep coming back to it though, but not too sure if it is too low for the room. Unfortunatley there doesn't seem to be many grey beds around to compare it with. As for those pictures, thank you. However i don't think any of them are my taste. They are all a bit busy i think. I like the white trim which i am going to get done. I think from these i'm leaing towards Ighter coloured walls as well. I think the blue walls on number 1 is a bit much and no:4 with different curtains would be okish too....See MoreNeed help for living room!
Comments (5)Looking at the oak doors and baseboards, I'd say go for a warm white (no cream, but a bit tan or olive -ish). Neutrals will last longer too, regardless of the funiture and decoration you will use. If the dog is yours, I'd use my budget for a faux wood ceramic floor and worry less about furniture, replace the old stuff once you're lived in the house (hint: slip cover). And walls can be painted afterwards, so focus on the floor (and window treatments) instead of the furniture and start out with offwhite walls....See MoreMoving home for two disabled women

4 years agoKettle's Yard House in Cambridge is an amazing place, it houses an art collection that was bequeathed to the university by Jim and Helen Ede. It was their family home until the early 1970s and has been virtually untouched ever since.
I love the Modern House Anthony, so many amazing homes. Ostentatious display of wealth has got to be at the root of bad taste.
For me Terence Conran will always be the godfather of good taste, this is an image of his bedroom shot by Lord Snowdon in 1984...
