dining table orientation

I have a very open plan yet zoned-by-pillars and flooring living space. As you enter the front door there is a room to the left and right that are symmetrical. One is a playroom and the layout is pretty much fixed. The other will be the formal dining room. Each room is roughly square but the dining table is a rectangle. I can either have it centred longwise against the front pair of windows leaving no room for a credenza unless it is placed backing onto the open hallway and off centre or I can turn it through 90 degrees and have it centred on the side wall where a credence and mirror would be fit neatly but then be off-centre on the windows. In either scenario we would centre a rectangular light fixture above he table (not the one pictured). The picture shows it centred along the side wall and how far off centre it is relative to the windows.
