Using sisal floor covering

I am contemplating using sisal floor covering in a second bedroom and a small study. Both are low traffic areas. What has been Houzzers experience of using sisal. Is it a good choice or not. Opinions very welcome before I commit to ordering. Thanks in anticipation of your opinions.

I love using sisal rugs and I have one in my family room that I have found very good for a busy family. I have spilt Coca Cola on it before and it is easily removed by dabbing with water and dabbing until the coke is gone. It is a more corse fibre so it is not soft but I love it. This is the sisal rug in my family room that I have had for years and I still love it. I think it is a timeless material and also helps to create a more relaxed casual look. I say go for it. Hope this helps- as you can tell I am a sisal lover!!!!

Thank you Patricia. I just got back from tile store and saw this display which i think is beautiful - it's an italian marble so there will be inconsistencies which I think is actually what I love about it. I would imagine a cream colour kitchen but possibly with a light grey island, or would it be better to stay all the same?

Laminate wood flooring throughout? Yes or no

Hi Cherry, we went with the laminate throughout the house and it turned out absolutely stunning. To be honest it's such good quality I don't think of it as laminate and everyone who visits thinks it's solid wood. It won't look like laminate if it's a good quality brand and you use a thick underlay. Using it throughout the house makes the rooms flow and makes the spaces feel bigger. It's also really easy to maintain unlike shiny glossy tiles! Good luck!

providing engineered flooring is laid correctly it will not lift. It will move but not enough to notice anything which is why it was designed with a ply back. Tiles are best for spreading heat but they also cool down quickly. Engineered flooring keeps the heat for a bit longer. There is not much in this its more the look you want?

This is the hall as it looks now, it will be repainted, a radiator cover must be put in place and the wall hangings will be changed. We had been looking at an extra long wide plank beige grey laminate but we've been recommended to go with a solid wood oak herringbone.
