Need Paint Advice

Hi,

I'm painting my entire main floor. Attached is my dining area which has the most colour. The kitchen cabinets are cloud white and the island is medium brown. My entire house is cloud white and gray (Storm and metropolitan). I love the colours but I would like to go a little lighter. Also, thinking of going with simply white BM for ceiling and trims. Any suggestions on lighter colours that do not look white when on the wall?

For some warm neutrals to consider, take a look at Edgecomb Gray HC-173, Baby Fawn OC-15 and Collingwood OC-28. For trim, my favorite is White Dove OC-17. And flat ceiling white for the ceiling (exceptions are bathroom ceilings and cove, sloped or other architecturally interesting ceilings). The only sure way to make sure something will work in your space is to bring in swatches so you can see the color in your lighting. (You can order free 8x8 large swatches from Benjamin Moore). Even better, hire a color consultant to help you pick - it can save a lot of time and guesswork. Best of luck!

I've painted a landscape on the wall, wallpapered one and enlarged a photo and had it printed on canvas. There are inexpensive outlets that shoukd have a framed printed landscape too. Just need to keep looking. Kirklands used too, Z Gallery, Homegoods. Or try searching online.

I think you should consider houssaon's idea of painting it the same color as the walls. Is the top of the tv console painted wood or is it a stone or composite? In the pictures my ipad shows me speckles (not dirt!!). My ipad sometimes *lies* to me. :) If the gray is the prominent color in the paint, maybe a darker gray would be a good choice too. If you are happy with the gray/green color next to your bookcases, then you should be able to pick a gray that would look good with both the new paint, and the bookcase. Gray next to the fireplace shouldn't be a problem :)

As the rest of your house is decorated in muted colours with the exception of the bathroom), I would stick with that. Duck egg/pale blues and pale greens or chalky pink would be very restful for bedrooms. Or navy blue looks smart with a neutral scheme.
