Looking for decorating ideas
Comments (4)Since you are reconfiguring the footprint of these spaces, I suggest you get a local pro to help you develop a floor plan that accomodates your requirements and budget. As far as cabintery and finshes, etc, there are unlimited options - so any suggestions would be a shot in the dark without knowing more about budget and what style you are looking for....See MoreHow should I finish my fireplace?
Comments (15)I'd definitely put some kind of stone on the walls, all the way to the ceiling. I think the gas fireplace that you have is really cute, but might look at a stone slab on the floor instead of the mat that is there now. I'd take stone inside of that alcove as well, whether matching or contrasting. You can still hang art above, on top of the stone. It would really make the room!...See MoreHelp to jazz up book case/ book shelf
Comments (6)It's not so much the bookcase as other problems I see in the room. Here are four things that could change your room at a relatively low cost: 1. Track lighting in the ceiling. Your lighting looks very minimal and no matter how gorgeous you make the room, if you don't light it properly, it won't look it's best. 2. Choose a bright, happy paint color for one of the walls, probably a wall you see from the doorway. It might be turquoise or coral or lime green. 3. Go to Gallery Direct and buy a big, splashy painting. http://www.gallerydirect.com/art/product/sara-abbott/instant-karma-i?substrate=paper&style=PF&frame=F0091&size=L 4. Now for the bookcase itself. It's doing its job just fine, but if you could turn some of the book into horizontal stacks, it could create a little more interest. If you're double stacking books, it sounds like you need a second bookcase, or one bigger one. If you do end up adding to your bookcase, it's nice to be able to display some objects, mixed in with the books....See MoreShould I opt for anthracite grey or white uPVC windows?
Comments (0)Our current white uPVC windows are the original ones on the house, which are 20 years old and are now broken in places. We are now looking to replace them and at the same time are having a small extension added to the back of the house. However, my partner and I cannot decide whether anthracite or white would look best on our house. We know anthracite would make our extension look modern and sleek, but we would then want the windows to match, and are not sure if changing all the windows to anthracite would work or whether we should keep the extension and windows white. The rest of the street and estate have either kept the original windows or opted for white, so its hard to know if grey would suit this colour brick and style and we obviously want to be considerate towards our neighbours so would love any advice you may have. Thanks in advance....See Moretoutesuite
