Design Dilemma Gardens Paint

what colour fence?

Hi all, you’ve all been so helpful so far, could you help us finish off by suggesting what colour fence to do? I know dark blues/black/greys are ‘in’ at the moment but I’m nervous as our garden is looking quite contemporary with all its straight lines and we’d prefer it to look more ‘country’! We’re adding a curvy flower bed where the birdbath is... but wonder if anyone is able to photoshop these photos showing the difference between different colour fences you think might work? And if brown-dark or lighter? Sadly the pergola is a much darker brown than I was expecting, with a red tinge! Hoping in time it will weather but perhaps a certain fence stain will compliment it?

Hi, how about sage green, paler grey or cream? Cuprinol have some lovely shades. I personally love the dark grey/black finish which really shows up the planting. The colour of your pergola will fade in time to a lovely silver, but again I think it will be stunning in black.

Gorgeous sofas! Would you consider using the Thibaut print suggested by Judy G Designs in a soft fold Roman shade? You don't say how many windows there are in the room. But Straight edge on the bottom, outside mount, clean and simple. The print has enough activity.

Agree with Forza, a country colour like a sage green, cream, beige, mushroomy grey would look nice. I painted my fence and gate with Cuprinol wild thyme last year which I would describe as a blueish steel colour and it looks great next to red brick. Here’s some random inspo pics.

Do you want the fence to stand out or disappear in to the background. If the first then all of the above suggestions are great. otherwise a mid to pale green would make it blend into the background, and don't forget to paint the posts or they'll stand out like sore thumbs.

Why anyone would paint the words ‘Before’ and ‘After’ on their fence I will never know...
