Paint for living room

It's a medium sized room. North facing so does not get much light. We have an open fire so don't want anything too light coloured. My sofa is Dark Olive Green and the floor is wooden. So far I am thinking of painting the chimney Brest Moda Foxglove bu mad stuck on the rest. I don't like cold colours so was thing of maybe some sort of cream.

One problem is that your curtains aren't full enough for the wide window. Houzz might have a formula but I found one here: http://www.ehow.com/way_6038775_many-should-hung-double-window_.html. Also, try this: remove the tie backs and let the curtains fall naturally. That should help a little with the fullness. Then buy pillows that bring in those colors. You can also add color to that bookcase by painting it the same color as the wall for a more built-in look. Add more collectibles or books to the shelves. Then find a large graphic poster for that long wall. Next pull the sofa and chairs closer to the fireplace so that they have at least two feet on the rug. Pull the end table closer to the furniture. Drop the picture on the right of the window down about 5". It's way too high.

Hi there, We've recently refloored and painted our living room. I think it's very bland and want to introduce more colour, perhaps a deep teal on the fireplace wall or something. Im struggling with choosing units for the alcove. I hate the TV stand and was thinking of something built in, put the TV higher and mounted on the wall but I cant put one on the other side or I'll have nowhere for my Christmas tree or baby's chair, will it look odd with something on one side only? Any suggestions for wall hangings and rug or no rug! Thanks in advance!
