What does the interior look like?

I am interested in the cathedral ebony finished piece. The description says the interior is a contrasting color. What is that color?

The interior color for the Mott Sideboard in Cathedral Ebony is black matte.

The shelves in the outer left and right compartments are both adjustable and removable. The shelves in the inner left and right compartments are neither adjustable nor removable.

The 6 total interior shelves are adjustable.

is the top of the buffet the same color as the front? or is the top matte black?

Since you are reconfiguring the footprint of these spaces, I suggest you get a local pro to help you develop a floor plan that accomodates your requirements and budget. As far as cabintery and finshes, etc, there are unlimited options - so any suggestions would be a shot in the dark without knowing more about budget and what style you are looking for.

Take the sketch to a paint store and try a bunch of color cards. Take the best ones home to see how they look in the light of your home. Then just pick the one you like the best. No it doesn't have to be some shade of yellow/mustard. It could be a complementary color.

Yes, I would and did start with cabinets. Browse through he kitchen photos here on Houzz until you determine your favorite styles. Start a kitchen idea book and save every photo that has something you like, cabinets will be your biggest investment. Once you know your style, begin thinking about counter tops and backsplash. One or the other will be your "star." If you already have a favorite, try to coordinate other choices with it. For example, I found my backsplash first, then chose the counter to go with it. Often people have their counter in first then struggle to find a backsplash. If you fall in love with a beautiful, busy granite you will want a simple backsplash. My floor was last, keeping it simple to avoid clashing with other choices. Good luck and have fun! This can be an overwhelming project but your friends at Houzz can help!
