Need help for hall stairs landing areas

The carpet on the landing and stairs is mainly green and red lattice pattern.
I want paint colours, not red , green or tones of those colours. For the very high walls, skirting boards and Victorian banisters / spindles. The space is fairly bright due to skylight and creamy beige hall floor tiles. There are two flights of stairs and 2 landings, one average size and other biggish. Please please help me sort out the paint colours. I use Farrow & Ball and Colortrend.

I am a fan of black as a disappearing colour! If the tha bannisters were painted black the Victorian look of cast iron would fit. The walls are too pale , would you consider a dark green( FB Green Smoke) under the rail, next to the carpet, and a much lighter version above( FB Light Blue or Pale Powder). Not really sure of the shade of green in the carpet, it might be more FB Oval Room. I am fond of the Pugin look but realise it is powerful and invariably used with very dark paints.

We changed our ginger brown stairs, over 3 storeys to white. 13 years later the effort was not only worth it but the pain has subsided too!

i was going to say tapestry or a glass mirrored effect, as well haha. or just a large painting that you will love to look at. your chandelier is very nice, but i've seen many with that kind of entrance, that they have those really long, pendent lighting, for a dramatic effect. but i'm thinking, you don't want to change that. or a giant clock. or one of those wall stickers. or animal heads haha. few ie attached

I love colors and most of your plan sounds fun and great but...that paint color looks very purplish and i would say maybe go lighter, more grey tone. Be cautious.

Mid grey/charcoal colour would make the pink look very chic and modern. It is also a great colour (we have it in our house) as its light enough that it doesn't show every crumb etc and dark enough to get away with not having to vac every day!

Hi Sonia,

Grey is quite the trend nowadays. You can try some light or stronger nuances. Both work in my opinion. Some nuances of blue might suit as well. The most important thing though is to try and find something that will suit your taste and the rest of the house.

I think the new Farrow & Ball Inchyra Blue would work nicely for the dado and below, teamed with either Shaded White or Drop Cloth on the top half of the wall.

I would use the dark grey that is in the carpet to paint under the dado rail, and the green from the carpet above the rail.
