Really like the led strip light showing the ceiling and have bee looking for construction designs for several months now. Is there a second molding below the top molding hiding the led lighting?
Larry, that is correct. The great team at Prairie Woodworks essentially extended the crown with a flat 1x extension below, then a small piece of trim to hide the LED ribbon (left side of sketch). The right side shows a more typical installation that highlights the drywall ceiling instead of the beautiful crown.
Thank so much David. You have finally solved my problem with LED ceiling accent lighting. Will duplicate the sketch in our 1892 Eureka Ca Victorian dining room remodel. Considering using 24V DC LED Strip Light for the prooject.
Alex, the team made it themselves. I made some for my own bath (photo) with 1x2 placed sideways and a cove mold below. I just cut a 1/8" deep groove in the 1x2, about 1/2" wide to conceal the tape but not so deep that it blocks light. You can use a dado blade or router.
