Need suggestions for window treatment

The windows are 83" wide, in the kitchen, and one is located just at the sink. Needing suggestions for something light filtering that can be closed for privacy and can be wiped dry or clean if water or food lands on it. Wooden blinds will be too heavy and top up/bottom down honeycombs may not be able to take the drying/cleaning needed.

There are many beautiful roller shades on the market today. They come in many different opacities and fabrics from basket weaves to suedes. They would be able to be wiped clean. They also come in the wide width you need.

aaah ! makes sense now - hey any one can grow parsley, basil or thyme ! you can buy them in pots in the supermarket when (and if) you kill them !!! my husband thinks I have green fingers because our herbs always look great !!! little does he know I replace them monthly !!! lol !! and a sprig looks great on tinned soup, that you can then claim you cooked from scratch too !!!

I think it might work better to have blinds on the wall with the smaller windows (perhaps in a plain colour) and have curtains on the main stretch of windows, using the existing curtains to replace the small roman blinds. This would allow the fantastic view to be the main focus. I do think plain curtains would work well here but you perhaps aren't keen to change them as they are new? Could they be used elsewhere? I also agree re moving the sofas so they aren't at angles, it looks a bit strange. Maybe try them in a u shape around the fire. And perhaps painting the door frame white might make the room feel calmer. Where did you find your lovely footstool btw?

Why not do both? We have several styles of Roman Shades at The Shade Store! I'd consider inside mounting our Flat Roman and flanking each window with stationary panels in our Ripple Fold Drapery. Curve our decorative drapery rods to the contour of the walls. I'd suggest the stationary panels to cover from just under the crown moulding down to the floor, this will add height and drama to the room. Hi, It looks like you have two tilt and turn windows on either side. This restricts a lot of treatments if you want to keep the space open for furniture or window seat..etc. You could put pre-tensioned pleated blinds on each glazed section. These can be operated top down or bottom up. The problem with pleated blinds is that they are very functional but they will not dress the window very well, but perfect for privacy and heat and light control. Kind Regards Anita
