Window Dressing, Curtains or Blinds?

Need some help choosing window dressings for my living room, pinch pleat curtains or roman blinds? I think curtains are more luxurious but they will cover wainscoting in the window & hang behind the sofa so a bit annoying for opening & closing. Any advice/suggestions on colour, fabric, texture, solid or pattern would be great and also any other suggestions for the room too

What color are the walls? Green, beige, gray? What color are the floors and couches? Is the rug staying? What style of artwork will you be putting up? Color, black and white, family pics, large or small? All this info would make it infinitly easier to make suggestions. : )

You could do matching roman shade and curtains. For the sliding doors, you could consider a more substantial curtain rod so it doesn't need a centre support. That way curtain could be moved over into corner.

Hello Jen, I am so surprised that no one has mentioned vertical blinds to you? They are very much back in fashion and work beautifully in a room such as yours. They come in 3.5" veins, which mean they will fold back and tuck into each recess when fully open. They turn to let as much light in as you need and then close when you want full privacy. They will be fitted in the recess above the windows. You can either have one complete rail length or two so you have a separate section over the door. You can have what's know as a middle split, i.e: half goes left and right. Personally I would suggest one length that opens to the left, therefore leaving your door completely uncovered when open. The pulley system is very much like a roller blind and are safety fixed to the wall so children can not get caught in them. They come in a huge rang of colours and materials and better still they are very affordable. I am working with a number of new developments in Hertfordshire at the moment and these are what the clients are all asking for. Hey Oldholly, Are you changing the glass to clear or keeping them frosted? If you are keeping them frosted, would you consider aluminium venetians? You can add a bit of colour if desired but with them, you can also allow light in while covering up the frosted glass. If you are changing the glass, you could consider roller blinds or roman blinds both adding a touch of class if the right fabrics are selected.
