Interior decor help needed!

Hi we have just moved into our house that we have had a small extension done. We now have a kitchen/diner/living room. Everywhere is white for now I want to inject some colour and make it more homely but am not very good at designs. We have a grey shaker kitchen and a grey dining table so don't want anymore grey. I was thinking of a feature wall behind the sofa but not sure if that's the best thing to do. Maybe a dark colour wall with some artwork on? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Please excuse the mess we are moving in and there stuff everywhere :) thanks

6 years agoHow's the light in there? I went super dark in our last house in a dim, north facing room, to make it cosy and intimate. I loved that room! It was all about the wood floor and metallic accents to lift that wall colour. The equivalent room in our new house is to be a very dark green...

Comments (9)If you are wanting to almost start over, I would paint in a soft blue or soft blue/green or soft green. These colors are restful, soothing and inviting. Wood floors will be great. I would get white bedding and maybe some colorful shams. White will work with anything else. Move the bed in the center of the wall. I would repaint the nightstand white and move it closer to the closet to be able to center the bed. Get another nightstand same height. Or get two new white taller night stands. You could get a small desk to go with the chair. Paint the chair white. Maybe window panels in a semi-sheer woven frint fabric. Place a dressing mirror on the back of the door. 6 years agoWe have a very similar extension off our kitchen diner, we are still white and just change the rugs, throws and cushions depending on the season. Will be interested to see if you do paint it as I might then change my mind.

6 years agoSouth facing - great! Does it get much light, and how brave are you colour-wise? If loads of light, no need to go dark to hide the fact that it's dim, so you can pretty much do anything. I love a cool blue in a south facing room: this is one of our south facing guest bedrooms. Looks great in bright light, and cosy in evening artificial light.
