Flooring between kitchen and dining room

Originally when we designed new kitchen the opening into the dining room was going to be a cased 5ft wide opening. Once we started we changed it to an 8ft wide opening. Now I'm worried that my 12x24 kitchen tiles meeting my dining room hardwood floors will look wrong with that large an opening. Any thoughts?

Comments (4)I think you can pull this together with some elbow grease and a few dollars. I'm not sure what you mean about extending the breakfast bar, but since the top looks like dark granite and everything else appears to be very light and neutral it give the Kitchen a a cave like effect. You might find a darker chandalier and hang it 30" off the table top instead of so low. Use a flat weave rug in simple stripes or a cisal with a dark border. Comments (0)Hi All, Apologies if this has been done to death but I currently have a very dark dining room due to an extension that has been built to the rear of it. The kitchen has relatively more light so I was hoping to borrow some light from the kitchen. I am a bit nervous about fully bringing down the wall between the kitchen and dining room as I would like to preserve the entity of both rooms if that makes any sense.
