Comments (3)Do you plan on painting your walls? I hope so. If yes than could also change your plan later. Be sure to look at the entire room before deciding how to decorate just one wall. I would consider a greige tone on the walls. As you have natural wood baseboards..(I like them), I would add tall shelves, the color of your trim to each of the alcoves. The bottom of the alcoves could be closed cabinets. Your TV could sit on one of them. Leave the backs of the shelves open for the paint to show through. You could display other art (including paintings) on them as well as books, photos, etc. I would not put a mantle above the fireplace as it looks more contemporary to be a clean look. I would place a very large framed round mirror over the fireplace, or a very tall vertical one, If every mirror were to only reflect a great view..there would be very few of them anywhere....See MoreWhat would you do with this kitchen? Comments (16)You need some kitchen accessories kettle etc that tie in with the red and also some artwork. The red you have chosen looks on my monitor to be a cool red, perhaps a bit of a warmer shade would help. i would also extend the dining area curtains down to the floor, they will cosy up the space, as would a statement rug to give a bit more life to the room. If your living room is green then it may be nice to have some token green of the same shade, somewhere in the kitchen, a plant or some artwork, and add a bit of the kitchen red to your living room, so that there is some continuity of colour in your home, as opposed to having two separate colour boxes and never the twain shall meet.....See MoreNeed understair shelving ideas please
Comments (20)It seems that 2 story houses are becoming much more the norm here. At least in the metro areas. People are wanting bigger houses and builders can get more house on less land. Mattresses, box springs and dressers have to be the WORST things to get up stairs ;-) I love the look of staircases and love the view a 2nd story provides. I'll tell ya though - we're not elderly (YET!) but I love not carrying laundry and other items up and down stairs ;-)...See MoreWhat to put in the space?
Comments (6)What a unique space. I love that this isn't necessarily symmetrical. This can sometimes pose a challenge however when trying to unify a space. I would approach this dilema by addressing it with color rather than objects. Try painting inside of the bookcase shelves and the alcove a contrast color. This will allow the walls to recede and the fireplace to come forward adding depth and dimension. Here are a couple of color suggestions based on your existing furniture. Hope this helps....See MoreSina Sadeddin Architectural Design
