What material forms the mesh resistant to wind pressure and rain?

In the UK we prefer double glazed conservatories, but sometimes in summer it would be lovely to feel a warm breeze on a porch or veranda without the discomfort of sunshine behind glass. Are screens taken down in Maine when winter comes or storms threaten?

    Yes - Typically the insect screens are taken down, in Winter, in order to protect them from damage.
