I need help with decorating!!!

I'm confused on what to do regarding the decor. I have greyology 1 on the walls, matte spotted gum flooring, and these beautiful lights. Does each room have to flow with style of pictures I use. I bought a massive abstract piece with splashes of colour, but I'm unsure if it will suit with those lights. I wanted to use just the artwork and decor for the colour in the house.

Art is personal. Keep other things consistent and relating to each other but with art have what you love. Post a photo of the art and some helpful Houzzers will be along to help.

i was going to say tapestry or a glass mirrored effect, as well haha. or just a large painting that you will love to look at. your chandelier is very nice, but i've seen many with that kind of entrance, that they have those really long, pendent lighting, for a dramatic effect. but i'm thinking, you don't want to change that. or a giant clock. or one of those wall stickers. or animal heads haha. few ie attached

As the rest of your house is decorated in muted colours with the exception of the bathroom), I would stick with that. Duck egg/pale blues and pale greens or chalky pink would be very restful for bedrooms. Or navy blue looks smart with a neutral scheme.

Hi Odette! Have you had any progress with decorating? Hanging a mirror could be good in terms of light reflection and making a space seem bigger than it is. I agree with bigreader. It's important to choose a piece of art because you absolutely love it for itself. It sounds like you chose the abstract piece for exactly that reason. Please don't be concerned if it will fit in. It will. Your home and how you decorate it is an expression of you. I really like your light fixtures and your spotted gum flooring. best wishes and please keep us posted.

Those are quite striking. Did you have particular rooms in mind for them? That last photo of your original post...is that your benchtop material?

If your home is tiny keeping the same style all the way through will make it feel larger but you can do whatever suits your needs and what you are comfortable with. If you have an eclectic set of items tie them together by selecting a colour that is common to majority of colours and repeat in each room, it could simply be a candle in that colour or a cushion with a hint of it. It does not to be a large or dominant piece.

Yes I have 9 foot ceilings and a double sided firplace from the lounge through to the dining room. the last piece of artwork is massive and I wanted to put it above the dining room side of the fireplace. the black ball lights are above the dining table.

The art is striking. I'd go slowly. Get your furniture in and hang your existing artwork. Then pop back here with pictures and we can make suggestions for the next layer of decorating.

That piece will look spectacular on the dining room wall and work well with the lights. What furnishings do you have in mind for this room? And have you thought about where you will place the other paintings? You may not know for certain until you move into the house and play around with different locations. Do you have a particular style in mind for your decorating, ie furnishings?
