Need help for wall decoration in long hallway

It is a long hallway with lots of doors going into rooms. the carpet is dark blue. don't want to paint all the whole wall as it is a bit dark if all the doors are closed '(light will come only from the entrance and the lounge as there's no doors) and it's quite narrow (1.05metre) so can't really put furniture so I was wondering about doing 2 horizontal lines of blue paint in the middle of the wall, then add some pictures, but would be glad of your ideas.

on this photo I am standing near the lounge door (or entrance as there's no door). all the doors of the rooms are open

on this one I am next to the entrance wich is after the lounge (all doors open)

on the right there's the kitchen then the bathroom then cupboard (doors closed) then a bedroom. on the left, after radiator, 2 bedrooms.

and on this one I am on the other end (next to the bedrooms). the door (or rather the handle) you can see on the oposite wall is the one for the dinning, on the right the lounge then the entrance, on the left the kitchen then the bathroom and the cubpoard.

Hi Odette!

Have you had any progress with decorating? Hanging a mirror could be good in terms of light reflection and making a space seem bigger than it is. I like your idea with the photographs and horizontal lines - I might add some adjustable spotlights to make a feature out of the photographs! For e.g.

No progress yet as i've had some health problems. But still in the back of my mind.

I like your idea of light on the pictures.

A niche would be a good way to add some drama without infringing on your circulation space. It doesn't have to be deep to be effective. You can do one simple vertical rectangle, and line the back with a mirror, or add some colour with paint, wallcovering or wood. It would be great if you could also add a recessed light fixture at the top. The attached images are perhaps too busy for your situation, but it gives you a good idea of what can be done. Good luck!

I'd put another set of sliding doors between the lounge and the playroom rather than a solid wall. Reason being is that it gives you more options. You get to sequester the mess and noise when you want and you still get a good flow later on when the kidlets aren't such mess monsters. I'd make both sets of sliding doors have full-length frosted glass inserts. That will let in the light. Or you could use shoji doors if that suits the decor better. From your plan, I'm assuming the house is semi-detached, so windows on the right wall aren't possible? Also, you might consider a pocket door from the hallway to the lounge and from the hallway to the utility room. That way you don't have to allow space for door swing.

I am about to re-decorate main bedroom and need your help. Currently one wall has built-in wardrobes in Mahogany which I want to paint in a soft grey together with bedside lockers and dressing table. I would like one feature wall behind the bed head (bed head is a classic brass design which I want to retain unchanged) I was thinking of a wallpaper in possibly an aubergine colour; or maybe I should wallpaper the other two walls in aubergine and do something else behind the bed..... I really need your help I'm stuck. Also what colour/fabric should I have the curtains in? The room faces north-east and has a roomy en-suite fully tiled in tiny mosaic white tiles with a black/silver/glass mosaic tile border at dado rail height. Should both of these rooms blend into each other or does it matter?

I think the only place you could put a tv is probably the corner by the window...over the fireplace is probably too high. a walnut floor and new fresher paint colour would be lovely, would you consider painting the skirting boards and fireplace white or off white to modernise them a bit? we've painted the skirting in our living room (also a walnut floor) and it looks so much better than before. (Have yet to get around to the rest of the house!!)
