picking carpet quality for stairs
Comments (2)You could go with either, but you should buy a dense, heavy face weight carpet. Consider something with low pile, or multiple pile heights that will help hide traffic paths. If you have reason to anticipate a lot of stains, then you might want to lean toward nylon. I personally love wool, but it would need to be heavy and dense for stairs....See MoreMoving house. Replace living room carpet or put down wooden floor?
Comments (4)I agree with the above comment a wooden floor with a rug will get you the best of both world's. Wooden floors are much easier to look after also, I think they tend to last longer than carpets which stain and become worn. If you are starting from scratch with furniture then do for it! Let us know what you choose :)....See MoreWhat to put on hall landing? Carpet or laminate?
Comments (3)Sorry, I'm confused. You have a landing that is attached, some how, to laminate flooring somewhere. Stairs will be carpeted...but not sure how stairs tie in to the laminate. Totally lost. You have stairs that will have carpet. They are attached to the landing...that is some how attached to flooring with laminate. There might be stairs involved, there might not be. At this point, without photos or blue prints or a full, clear statement describing the whole thing, we won't be able to help. What is the flooring 'upstairs'? Putting carpet on stairs, willy-nilly, with NO connection to "other areas of carpet" is quite odd. Many people who use carpet will often "carpet the stairs" and then carpet all of the area "upstairs" to match the stairs. This is why they put carpet on the stairs in the first place...it matches the "upstairs". Using carpets on stairs, then on a landing use laminate, and then continue carpet on stairs once again is very, very odd. Ending the carpet without continuing with it (ie. upstairs is another flooring type entirely) is another "odd thing to do". In essence, we will need more precise description of what is going on here....See MoreHelp with a new carpet for my bedroom please?
Comments (14)Thank you guys. I went to the carpet showroom today and the guy there was not very helpful. Just threw a few books at me. So I am none the wiser really. But there would not be as much selection here in Ireland as what you would have in the states. I won't give up though, I saw a few ones with speckles on it and they were nice but I think I will hold out for the pattern ones if I see them. Maybe what I want is not out there..... Wont see any dirt, only have to Hoover once a week, no foot marks and light in color ??...See Morecat_mom
