Hello Lynne. This garden was landscaped a hundred years ago or so.. That is why the stone is well weathered and blends with the soft landscaping. It is York Stone. The white patches (likely a form of lichen) demonstrate the weathering and how old it is. I hope this answers your question. Kind regards. Melissa
