Tiny apartment bedroom

I have just moved in to a new apartment. (Didn't realise how tiny the bedroom was). I want to have 2 bedside tables but I only have 300mm wide on one side, and 500mm on the other side. I cannot moved the bed to make each side as it stops the door from closing. As you can see from the photo, the bed is against wall to wall window. (Please take no notice of my partners ugly bed spread.. It's going in the bin today)

also, BIR is on the left and is full length also.

Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well, first, there's no rule that the two tables have to be the same. So the two don't have to match - you could have a little table on one side and a nightstand on the other. Now, admittedly, 300 mm is pretty small, so I'd be inclined to look for a very small square table with a shelf (Howard's has a bamboo bathroom table that's about that size and Ikea has the Nordli table which is also in that size range). Or you could go for a small tower (again, Howard's) if you need more storage. Then either buy a matching or completely different piece for the side with more room.

I had the same problem with the dimensions of my room being a bit weird. I don't have a photo right now but instead of bedside tables with draws try shelving. Like floating shelves that sit a on a track that go vertical. I have a mini ladder next to my bed which rests against the wall and the shelves are the rungs of the ladder. When in small spaces think up not out! Always works for me!

sorry haven't been on here much and havent had time or money to much about my room but should be getting to work in the next few weeks/month. I've added some more photos to give a better idea of the layout of the room and the dimensions. the first one is a view from the bed or the foot of the bed, so you can see the wall space isn't massive. The horrible curtains are waiting to be changed when I get all the work done! The second photo is the other wall to show where the door to the room is. Carolyn the wardrobe in the photo there is the one I'm going to put in the nook and then I was thinking of getting a carpenter to build shelving on the wall where the wardrobe currently is. Around the bed then would be more storage and shelves either side to act as bedside tables. As anyone any ideas for the type of shelving I should be looking to get built? I would be looking to hold - clothes that wouldn't be hanging like jumpers, t-shirts etc. I would definitely need an area for books/magazines, an area for toiletries and maybe then storage for items such as bed linen, blankets and random items like chargers for phones, laptops etc.

I am about to re-decorate main bedroom and need your help. Currently one wall has built-in wardrobes in Mahogany which I want to paint in a soft grey together with bedside lockers and dressing table. I would like one feature wall behind the bed head (bed head is a classic brass design which I want to retain unchanged) I was thinking of a wallpaper in possibly an aubergine colour; or maybe I should wallpaper the other two walls in aubergine and do something else behind the bed..... I really need your help I'm stuck. Also what colour/fabric should I have the curtains in? The room faces north-east and has a roomy en-suite fully tiled in tiny mosaic white tiles with a black/silver/glass mosaic tile border at dado rail height. Should both of these rooms blend into each other or does it matter?

You can use this headboard from IKEA it will hide the stuff on your balcony as well.

I found a desk drawer at Ikea that my hubby and I use. They are simple but very handy. No more than 300-350 wide. But deep so the fit a bit in them.

I would expect the room to feel bigger if you were to rotate the bed to sit against the blank wall.
This would give you approx. 400mm on the window side and 950mm on the BIR side, 450 at the end of the bed. Depending if it is a rental or not, you could either install a long floating shelf above the bed so it is just above head height when sitting on the bed, or otherwise purchase two 400mm side tables. There would still be room (about 550) next to the side table to access all of the robe.

If you need small bedsides my tip is to check out the kids ranges. Slightly smaller scale and still a good range.

My Mum actually has a bi-fold door into her bedroom ... a little unusual, but it works to provide more clearance for the bed. Perhaps this is something you could investigate? If you own the place, a more conventional option would be changing the swinging door to a pocket sliding door.

Howard's Storage World 5 drawer slim trolley. 23cm wide. Add a lamp or a plant....perfect!

I agree with those who have suggested turning the bed with the bed head against the blank wall. This would alleviate the power cord across the floor as it would be under the bed for anything electrical placed near the window.

Gees, it does look small in there. How about a huge mirror on the wall to give the illusion of more space

Try circular lamp tables that lap over the bed a little. the bases are usualy smaller than the tops

I would use shelving up on the walls. Maybe get rid of the Browns and use white as bedding. Just a big floor lamp on skinny base. Freedom have a bright yellow one or ikea. On the shelves you can stack some nice books and things.

Yes the bed is really meant to be up against the blank wall: that's why the power point is there. But it infuriates me how developers create super tight-fitting dog-boxes for humans to live in. And this is just the start.
