Window treatment for new master bath

After 3 long months our master bath remodel is finished. We used the azul fantasy granite with matching sparkly glass mosaic tile trim. Travertine porcelain tiles in the shower and floor. Now I am trying to choose fabrics for Roman blinds on the 3 new Windows. Do either of these work. Also my house is a 70s ranch so the bath is open to the bedroom

I like the top blue print one. It would look nice with your tile work and counter tops without being too strong or overwhelming. A nice complement to the room. I would recommend using interlining for softness and blackout lining to prevent light bleedthrough, so that the fabric color remains true even during the day when light is shining on the window.

Here's what I've found after living in and visiting many tract homes- LR-13x18 FR-12x16 (and that they not be in the middle of the traffic flow pattern aka many tract homes post ww2 till about the late 50's) Kitchen (no eating area) 9x11 DR/Nook or other eating area 10x10 Entry-at least 3'6" wide 4' better Bedrooms (good design would at least provide 2 good bed walls aka no doors or windows in it) MBR-12x13 w/ at least 10 linear feet of closets All other bedrooms-10x10 with at least 5 linear ft of closets all closets 2' deep, Baths-5x8 but 5x9 better if fixtures lined up on one wall and tub/shower at end 7x8 and 8x8 with the tub/shower fully accessible if it's 5 ft long 6x8 if it's a 3' shower (fixtures lined up on 2 opposite walls). If you look and many floor plans the best ones will have all of this. Note that square footage does not have to be a lot-ciculation/flow between rooms helps this.

If you want custom cream panelling built from scratch, it is likely to take you more than three weeks to line up a contractor, get it built and then painted. If you want to use beadboard (thin, lightweight, cheap) you can do it yourself if you are good at the small precision cuts around the wood window trim and behind the radiators. You can get a custom built wood cover with doors for your tv or use the painting over tv disguise made with hinges. I think the room is beautiful as it is. Spend some money on a truly beautiful, impressive chandelier, have it centered over the table. If you want to impress relatives at an event, the chandelier is the way to go. Clean the windows for extra sparkle. If you are in the US, try Home Decorators http://www.homedecorators.com for DVD storage cabinets that are closed. I would not get a rug for this room unless I was ready to get it cleaned frequently and I could find one that looked good with dog hair on it and did not show stains. A good quality, highly patterned wool Oriental rug will do that job nicely. Such a rug is an investment and may take longer than three weeks to find.

Hi PCmom, sstarr and lefty47. Thanks a million for the comments and views. I'm taking it all on board. PCmom I like the frosted glass idea but I think it will block too much light. We are actually thinking of doing this though in our front sitting room as the window is floor to ceiling. Love the recycled lumber idea and it looks great in the photo - think my husband is hell bent on steel shelving though. sstarr - I'm gonna have a look at your profile pics now but I don't think we will have enough wall space for floor to ceiling pantry. lefty47 we are keeping the appliances for now. It is only the oven - its not the prettiest but its functional and we will most definitely get a new fitted one in the future. There are a few other pictures there of the room around and the left wall - can you not see them? If not I can try and add them again. I'm glad you liked the toilet paper. It took me ages to decide where to place that! What does everyone think about colours of the cabinets? I think we might go for a neutral tone on the wall (unless anyone can visualise anything better?) and either with the steel shelving or possibly the recycles ,lumber idea from PCmom? You could create an ensuite by borrowing space from the second bedroom, accessing it from the master. I would create one large luxury family bathroom by joining the current bathroom and the adjoining room into one. If you don't want to lose a room, you could swap the purpose of the two rooms, creating a medium sized bathroom and a small box room/study (expensive for some benefit). Lastly, if you really want to maintain the number of rooms but gain a bigger bathroom, you could move the family bathroom to the bottom, right-hand room, if plumbing allows. Hope this helps.
