Its a type of limestone found in the bedrock of county Kilkenny (Ireland). The colour of this type of stone often depends on a few variables; its constitution, the amount of time it was in the ground / the depth it was quarried from, and the length of time the exposed stone was left to the elements (in the quarry).
There are some fantastic variants in the colour of limestone.. Subtle, but strong :)
