Need help with my doors

Building a house, like dark wood floors, planning on having a walnut/white stairs (walnut threads and banister)...........are walnut doors also too dark with dark flooring. Architrave/skirting/windowboards will all be painted white.

It really depends on the size. Dark wood doors and floors and stairs may be a bit heavy on the eye. If the rooms are large and bright then it could take it but personally think it could be overkill in a smaller space. Hope this helps

It also depends on the design of the doors, you could have glazed panels.

I do not see velvets and silks for a kitchen sink window sorry. There are plenty of gorgeous fabrics around with beautiful damask or geometric pattern that are striking, that could be found in a faux silk or linen. Velvet is something that I would never put in a kitchen. But it is your kitchen.

Your room looks large and lovely but with an entrance at one end and a fireplace at the other can seem a bit long. Firstly take EVERYTHING out. This will show the room in the best advantage and get rid of clutter. Only put back things you absolutely love. I would put two sofas or a sofa and two chairs (they don't have to be a suite) in front of the fireplace OR get a solid coloured L shaped sofa as it seems you are orienting the room toward the TV. You could then put a nice rug under a light-feeling coffee table (maybe glass and wood to pick up your chimney breast) in the middle. This would allow you to get rid of the multiple small side tables. I would lighten up the alcoves alongside the fireplace, either paint or light wallpaper. Get a proper piece of furniture for the TV to stand on. TV stands are ugly. There's lots to choose from. Try IKEA. Take down the heavy curtains and put in Roman blinds in a print fabric you love (try to find one with at least 3 colours) and coordinate with your rug. You could then use colours in this to make/pick throws and pillows. At the end near the door you could put in a small table and your rocking chair and make it like a separate area for music or reading with a nice standing lamp. Get some inexpensive drum light shades to update the lighting and put in another standing lamp by your sofa, as mentioned above, and lower your pictures to eye height. Good luck!

Hi, we have a small spare room right under the roof (it is nota converted attic, the house was built like that in the first place). The room is 240 cm wide by 270 cm lenght. My dream would be to fit a desk and a chair / sofa bed but maybe I am asking too much? The door opens next to an in bult tiny wardrobe and there is a window on one side .... so essentially there are only 2 free walls and the ceiling is low and sloping for one side. Would have otherwise thought about a loft bed.... Any expert in designing tiny spaces? Btw the room is now used as a sort of laundry room... but I am ready to sacrifice the chores for a bit of art :). Thanks! C.
