Heat absorption

Being that shou sugi ban is black, does it absorb heat, make houses hotter, causing your ac to use more enery? Being that it is recommended to seal with an oil, is it possible to apply a heat reflective coating? I live in south texas & our house will be on the top of a hill & have no shade from the sun.

No, our dark finishes will not make the home hotter due to our rain stream installation. There is a gap in the cladding that will suck the heat out of the space.

There are heat reflective also known as "Ultra Violent" sealers that you can purchase at at major home improvement retailer.
