Grey corner sofa

Hi,

We have ordered this corner sofa from Harvey Normans today for our new extension !
All weekend we have been worried about the colour as in will it last !
We have taking out the extra 5 year insurance against stains and that but my husband said today that he thinks we don't relax with it which is pointless I suppose !
We have 3 children and even though we will ban food from it.
He thinks we will be always on edge incase someone spills.
We can cover it with throw overs but again is this pointless as you won't see it !
We think we can cancel order in the morning! We both love it but is it for a house that is barely used !
Any advice please
We last bought a sofa 10 years ago in black leather so never had to worry !

Go for it! It looks beautiful! We have 3 children too and do not allow our kids with food and drinks near our sofa, which is grey too, but a little darker! So far so good, 6 years later! However, they have a playroom with their own sofa, but I just wipe stains regularly. You have to relax about it and accept that there might be stains, but with 3 kids, you can't avoid it. Fabric is so much more comfy than leather... You won't regret it!

I agree- if stain guarded it should be fine. You could also find a steam cleaning professional to give it a refresh every now and again

At the moment all your stuff is concentrated at one side of he room making it cluttered and bare at the same time. Pictures need to go at eye height, so maybe get a simple shelf built above the sofa at eye height for some knick knacks. Somehow your pictures seem very high up on the wall. You could cluster them together above the sofa maybe? You can still have your mantel but with maybe a better-selected range of bits on it. Agree that some shelving might be good in the alcoves but not above the line of the top of those pictures. I would have gone for a much darker colour for the walls (like navy blue) because the sofa would have blended in a bit more and it would look luxurious against the dark background. Plus dark colours give your stuff an instant quality upgrade. (I always say it makes my sh*t look like stuff) Sorry that's unhelpful as you've obviously made those decisions!!

Dreamy Truffle? Where did that come from, what did I miss? I wouldn't go that way either but any of the neutrals on the bottom row will work. Oh, sorry, I see it now, duh. When you paint your walls in a neutral color like off white you don't need to repaint when you're tired of it. It's much easier to change art and accessories than it is to repaint.

I think lovely opportunity to move couch onto wall opposite armchairs move all seating in away from walls (would probably change in time type seating as too large for room ) allowing circulation with coffee table in the middle. This then opens up wall that couch on now for a unit with open shelving housing the TV there as some gorgeous examples of these & can add colour . Lovely bright room smaller furniture for sure .

Hi there. If you haven't already - why don't you take a look at Guardsman protection - http://www.guardsman.co.uk/en/furniture_protection_plans/fabric_protection_plans.html

They will come out and clean up any spillages as many times as you like during the 5 year period and I've found them to be really helpful. (I know of one woman who called about once a month as she let her pets on the sofa!!)

I'd say go for it - its a lovely style and so much more comfortable than leather.

Hi thanks for all the replies , we have done the extra insurance and they clean stains etc if we can't remove .
My husband thinks with the lighter colour we will never relax .
The problem is with the darker colour we can't see a picture of the sofa in this colour they just gave a book of fabrics .
Don't want to buy one we haven't seen properly when we asked could we see a picture of it in darker shade they didn't have one !

I know you aren't buying from Sofa.com but their website is really good as you can play around and see what different fabrics look like on their various styles of sofa. I've found a sofa that is a little similar to yours, so you can kind of get the idea of what it would look like in a different shade. If you were to cancel the order with Harvey Normans, sofa.com lets you return sofas if you don't like them! I've always found them to be really good.
