Ever considered stoenwork similar to your fireplace on that wall? Also lower the hung photographs.. should be at least four inches below the windows' top edge.. Your sofas are quite dark. they seem aubergine.. is there any way you can at least place one of the sofas across from a window so that light falls on it? right now it is in the shadows backed against the windows, therefore more dark (does it seem so when you're in the room too?) The mirror (though nice) is too solid and thick for the mantel. can it go on a clearer stretch of some wall? fourth wall? What is the fourth wall like? idk how the fourth wall is like but how about angling large sofa at 90 degrees to the window with the single seater also angled in the corner where the lamp is.. and place the side table with lamp infront of the window (i-e at the corner of the 'L' made by t he sofas).. If possible get lighter lamp shades (cream).. Love the cushions.. place two of these cushions on the single seater to relieve the large sofa.. Please turn the rug lengthwise along the length of the sofa.. get a glass/metal table (if tots allow) or cream ottomon as center table.. The TV is too large for the rack, no? The vase is being wasted under the tv.. Florals and stripes can be mixed depending on print.. but if you bring anymore florals in this room, it would be best to match the flower shape to those in the curtains. I find the curtains too short......See MoreI need a new rug for my sitting room
Comments (21)Love your carpet choices here! I noticed that there no artwork on the walls yet. This will elevate the mood of the room since you will need an upper emphasis once your room is anchored with the carpet. It is easier to decorate around a rug, the one you love for sure, than around a focal piece, such as art. After you choose from any of the beautiful carpets above that work with your interior, take a photo of the room with the carpet installed in it. Have fun looking for the artwork that best sings with your carpet. and that grabs you. After you have the choice of art up on the wall, look for small accessories of colour of shape, size and texture that work with the whole composition last. Do not forget something living such as plants, which take the sterility out of the room, especially neutral walls and natural floors....See MoreShould I put mirror over fireplace or over tv. mirror can only be 95 c
Comments (11)There are a thousand ways to use mirrors beautifully in a living room -- just not any old mirror in any old place, that I would agree with I think you should have art over the fireplace, and I see potential for using a scattering of small mirrors to bring light into the alcove and counterbalance the somewhat awkward angle of the TV. I'm assuming there's nowhere else to put the TV? I agree that the furniture in that corner is rather too flimsy to handle either the size of the TV or the bold black boxes of the fireplace and hearth. How about a striking floor vase? (Just resist the temptation to stick stuff in it.) https://www.etsy.com/listing/158899961/poster-geometric-print-a3-abstract-wall http://www.amazon.com/Classic-Natural-Bamboo-Floral-included/dp/B006O127GY...See MoreNeed help with TV placement and decor ideas for compact living room
Comments (2)I think the only place you could put a tv is probably the corner by the window...over the fireplace is probably too high. a walnut floor and new fresher paint colour would be lovely, would you consider painting the skirting boards and fireplace white or off white to modernise them a bit? we've painted the skirting in our living room (also a walnut floor) and it looks so much better than before. (Have yet to get around to the rest of the house!!)...See MoreLorna mellon
