what type of saw a home owner can use to cut these stones 4x8x12 so I can work at my own pace instead of renting one and rushing to return it.

What is your budget? I am partial to blinds from Lutron that provide privacy and a view and have battery operated controls for automated operation for retrofits but they are pricy. Hunter Douglas has a fabulous selection of window coverings and then there are always options such as JC Penny's. As for color and style, I suggest you establish a budget and then investigate options in your price range, this will narrow down your search considerably.

Seating, growing boxes, bug houses. Canopies may be better than a playhouse - let the light and fresh air in and if you have them at different heights they create a fantastic "den" environment. How about a giant blackboard on one wall where they can draw, wipe and draw again. On a practical note if you have a sandpit make sure it has a cover to stop the local cats from using it as a litter tray!

Glass splashbacks are a great idea , glass is so easy to keep ! there is such an extensive range of colours available ! It finishes off a kitchen so nicely tiles are great too but there's an awful lot of upkeep involved !

A few things I would change from experience...instead of a single and double door I would spend the extra money and put in a bifold corner section...would open up the space so much more. as for the kitchen...completely flip your design...put your breakfast bar closer to the window...make it large and multipurpose with the hob in it and then put your main band of cabinets either left, right or behind? We have recently restructured our existing cabinets to this layout and put in new countertops and it works far better than before!
