It is a Faux Effects metalic: gun metal, with a black glaze.

I think your colors are restful so I would work with those and not pop a color. Maybe some interesting artwork that had some color in it, but I think you should go for a more elegant calm look. By the way, I like the chandelier you have with the fireplace. I think I would paint the lower part of your wall the same blue as is in the top part. Then I would add some black accents in glass and lamps. Curtains that have a sheen or gold thread would be nice.

Depends on where the gold is and in what quantity. If all of your fabrics (bed linens, etc) are gold, maybe change them out to white or white and blue. If you have gold walls and curtains, time to replace? If you dont want to replace, consider a white and blue wallpaper on one wall (thinking of one of the large newer damasks out there, or ikat, perhaps) Throw blue toss pillows on the bed, perhaps a blue throw or area rug. Sometimes just an accent chair in a surprising fabric can bring a new color into the room. Pick that color up in small ways- vase of faux flowers, frames on pictures, I think the addition of white to any color scheme brightens and cuts through any color that seems overly dominant in a room. Thanks Barry. I will try Showtime for the taps. I've found one shop in Dublin that supplies brass lacquered handles but they tell me they are really not practical or recommended for use in a kitchen as the lacquer will "break down" (they couldn't say how long this would take). I see gold coloured hardware all the time on Houzz though so I think there must surely be a material being used in those handles that is more kitchen friendly..I just cant seem to find any kitchen company that knows more about it. If anyone has experience of "gold coloured/effect" hardware in a kitchen, would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks again

I do love drainpipe grey but particularly love it with the contrast of white marble countertop and a white Belfast sink. With wooden countertops I love the blue greys and greys with a hint of green. Your kitchen is already looking gorgeous so maybe you'd prefer a lighter grey like Farrow and Ball French gray, lamp room gray or blue gray as the photos below. I think you can't go wrong with Farrow and Ball greys, we went for 'light gray' in our kitchen and we love it.
