I like the first knob, because it relates to the pulls. But I would mount it horizontally, to reflect the horizontal aspect of the pulls.

I like the 'matching' round knob - larger size. Even on the smaller cabinet doors, I think it provides a little more substantial feel that is needed. I also like that it has the same lines as the pulls beneath - not too matching, but similar, which is nice.

I do like the rectangular ones, but maybe larger? Maybe it's too hard to judge from a picture and makes more sense in person?

My vote is for the square one in the larger size. I think it's more contemporary and blends better with the pulls. Good luck!

I like the big round one. The smaller ones look too small to me.

Love the matching knob in the larger round size. I think it looks contemporary and coordinates better with the base of the pull. The larger size looks great and will feel better in your hand. I don't care for the rectangular ones, especially as the rectangle is vertical instead of horizontal like your pull.

i also vote for the larger round size. i have a mix of round knobs, rectangle pulls and cup pulls and it all just works...

Beautiful cabinets and pulls. I like the first knobs (rectangular) but they should be bigger, get the 1 1/4" version for sure. Why do I like it? Your backsplash (bottoccino marble?) has a soft look to it so I like having something harder and sharp as a contrast to it. Your pulls achieve that so i think your knobs should be similarly "sharp" or linear, for lack of a better word!

Any way you can do a mockup with the larger rectangular pulls, and post again?

The round works though and you can't go wrong with it.

You can't go wrong with either but get the larger 1 1/4" size to give them more presence, as your cabinets are the simple shaker style (from what I can see) so you need the hardware to give it some detail.

I like 'em both a lot better than the previous crystal ones (IIRC). I prefer the top one, but the large round is nice too.

Thanks for everyone's input. redroze - I love your reasoning. :) (FYI - The backsplash is Lansdale Carrara marble.) For the record, I was thinking the large rectangle or the small round. I'm glad I asked you guys because nobody liked the small one!

Something about that large round just bugs me. Maybe if the post was smaller. As it is, in person it just looks clunky compared to the pulls. Also, head-on it reminds me of those cheapo plasticy knobs from the fifties. I must've been scarred by some incident as a child b/c I like mid-century design as much as the next gal, but I hate those fake-chromey round knobs they used to put on everything.

Unless I hear overwhelming protest, I think we have a winner. Thank goodness they extended the sale through tonight!

Please excuse sanding dust everywhere. For some stupid reason, I cleaned the place up BEFORE I sanded trim yesterday.

ACK! I'm being such a GIRL on this decision. I'm wavering again. Now I'm thinking the large rounds. Sounds like everyone thought the large size in either would work, so I guess I can't go wrong.

Noooo way I'm paying full price for these suckers. If I have to, I'll pull a number out of a hat. Less than an hour before the store closes. I don't have any more free shipping codes, so I'll be calling them soon to place the order. If anyone else wants to weigh in, please do so!

I can see the benefits of both shapes, but large is definitely better. Usually your first gut reaction is the one.

To me, your kitchen has a lot of square/rectangle shape in it. Between your cabs, backsplash, and pulls, there are straight lines. The round knobs tie in to the round base of the pulls and bring in another shape for visual interest. But the rectangular knobs work as well. When you first posted, you indicated you had a preference, maybe that is what you should go with. It is as jennabanenna said, often that first gut reaction reveals to us the way we should go.

I vote for the large round! I agree with pluckymama that they nicely match the round base of your pulls. Can you tell me how long those pulls are? I'm looking for nice long pulls too.

OMG! pluckymama - you're absolutely right! I like the rectangles, but if I mount them sideways (as suggested and it makes sense) everything is very linear. This is a small, long galley and that would just add to the runway feel.

I called the store and the guy on the phone was no help at all with my decision. :) I ordered the rectangles, then I saw your note. I called him back and had it switched over just in the nick of time.

I'm sure either would look great and I am being a high-maintenance baby. But I am happy with the final decision, so thanks much.

I was running around the kitchen drilling holes so I could see how different ones looked in various cabinets. LOL! The round looked really good on the lazy susan next to the stack of drawers. They both looked nice, but the round had a little more oomph that the rectangle didn't have.
