With a sliding door, you can have each side different to match the style of the room it faces. Here are some ideas that, believe it or not, are done with sharpies on flat surfaces. I can envision a "fireplace" on the lounge side. On the dining room side, you could do the "double door" look, by putting half on the door, and half on the wall next to the door. So when the door is closed, it looks like a pair of doors, but when the door is slid open it looks like only one door (but it's the wall!) I added the 3rd picture just because I think it's so cool. I believe the only "real" thing in the room is the glass table/desk, and the filing cabinet.

If you get a small flush mount fixture, it should be OK. Another solution would be to get a pendant fixture and swag the chain/cord over to the center of the island. I once had this problem in a client's dining room. We installed a chandelier centered over the table and used a ceiling medallion to hide the off-centered junction box. Does that make sense?

Hi There, Does anyone know if recessed ceiling light positioned on each side of main bathroom mirror would give good lighting for make up etc? I have small bathroom and was hoping to put 2 recessed over the bath area and 2 recessed (further together) over the mirror. I could do wall lights but design does not lend itself to this. Thanks for thoughts
