Love the craftsmanship! Is this look complementary to a white kitchen?

We are considering this white trim detail for our fireplace as well. We have a white kitchen that opens to the family area with a similar overlooking railing and would like to do a darker stain like this but hesitate on how to tie it together --- what other areas of the house are stained dark like the railing to tie the look together?
