POLL: Ping-Pong or Pool Table?

It's no secret that both Ping-Pong and Pool are household classics, but what if (*deep breath*) you had to choose between the two - a ping-pong table or a pool table? How would you make the impossible choice a possible one? Would you go for the young quick-fire game of Ping-Pong or the classic slow-burner that is Pool?

No need to choose, get a table tennis cover for your pool table.

My mate has a ping pong table to sit over his pool table, not often it comes off.

Ping pong is much more family orientated - we have one in the garden during summer and young/old/male/female all play without feeling intimidated by the rules or how good you have to be!!

pool table - not a hard choice :D
I find the skill and atmosphere of pool way more appealing than table tennis

Ping pong is probably a bit more fun than a game of snooker. Both great though.

Pool table... I just love the sound it makes when the balls smash onto each other...

Pool table - we use ours with the top leaves on mostly as a table for jigsaws, Christmas wrapping, folding laundry. When our now grown kids come home the top comes off for pool or stays on and has the tennis top put on. It gets equal use between both games and lives in the conservatory.

To expand on my previous comment over a decade ago, no need to choose. Get a pool table with a dining table top. There are loads available. Then cut yourself a piece of MDF or decent quality plywood to fit on top. Make the dimensions enough to allow for fitting a net.

EITHER paint it in your own colour scheme as a ping pong table - maybe to match your choice of pool table cloth. Doesn't have to be green & white. Mine's blue & yellow, to match the funky bats & balls I found.

OR make the top side a piece of art. hang it on the wall when not in use.

You can play ping pong on any sized table. Mine's about 1m x 2m as that's what I can easily store. (Sadly no space for a pool table, but we do have a wide bodied pinball machine & our local pool club, with three pool & two snooker tables, is a 5 min walk away.)

You CAN have your cake & eat it.
