New Build Living Room Layout - Help
Comments (0)Hi, We have bought a new house and can't decide on the layout of the sitting room and was looking for some help. There is an electric fireplace integrated into the middle of the center wall and two alcoves on either side. I don't want to mount the TV above the fireplace as it will be too high so am wondering what is the best room layout and TV position. There is also a bay window at the front. We are planning on getting an L shaped couch as well. I have included the floor plans below. Any advice would be a great help!...See MoreLiving room help for colours etc

Comments (0)Hi, We recently moved into a new home and we're redecorating two adjoining rooms. It's myself and my wife at the moment, and in around 6 weeks there'll be a little one joining us :) Here's an album of the two rooms with a floor plan https://photos.app.goo.gl/w4d77HhJhGxuUdGt9 I've arranged to get the floors refinished over the next few weeks (once our 'lock-down' is over!). The room without the TV will be a dining room/office combo, it's south-facing. Generally, they are quite bright when all doors and blinds are open, but the windows are not huge so there aren't awash with light all the time. We're having real trouble deciding on a colour scheme. Could anybody offer any inspiration? For the furniture, the main thing we plan on keeping is the sofa, the rest is likely to be changed. Thanks!...See MorePainting (Around) Picture Frame Mouldings
Comments (0)I've been abroad for 7 years, and I'm slowly moving into an older apartment in Boston. I have to buy all new furniture and decorations, so I'm taking my time to plan out a home I'll really appreciate. I love the picture frame mouldings in my new living room, but there are some features I want to accentuate and others I want to deemphasize. The paint job isn't great, and the walls have a very strange uneven texture with some obvious patching. They're currently eggshell or semigloss, and I want to paint them with a flat or velvet paint. I also want to highlight the mouldings and make it less of a pure white expanse. I'm leaning into the gray that's already there and am gonna attempt bit of an art deco feel with some gold decorations. To that end, I want to paint the walls with a very light grey, and I'd like to see what others think of my options. Real Photos (pardon the camp furniture): I Photoshopped 3 possible ways to paint the white walls: A: paint outside the frames B. paint inside and outside the frames C. paint everything except the top and bottom trim. If it helps, this is where I'm at with my plan in 3D: It's long enough to do a combo living/dining room. I haven't gotten any furniture, yet, so this is just FPO. I'm stuck with one of those wooden boxes with a grate over the radiator by the windows. This is my first post, so thank you for any advice!...See MoreRina
