This outdoor seating area is at a lower elevation than the veranda and balcony and pool deck above. The roof is supported by load bearing solid Macedonia columns. The Fountain percolates and flows through a weir to a lower elevation. The water falls over a textural split-faced Macedonia Limestone. The paving is our Ostra shellstone (cross-cut). Ty Larkins Interiors specified the furniture.

A covered porch addition creates a peaceful and harmonious outdoor living area. The artisan-crafted timberwork frames the views overlooking the pool terrace and lawn. It engages the interior spaces by bringing the beauty of the outdoors in. I was the project architect for this addition while working at Kenneth Lynch & Associates. Photo credit: Brad Dassler-Bethel

The local wildlife's watering hole! The roof overhang with a white oak lid extends from the living room to the exterior as the flagstone flooring continues to the outside as well. An oculus gives a peek to the garden roof from below. A brass scupper stretches to throw excess irrigation water of the above roof garden to a circular, steel catch basin that rises above the no-mow fescue grass of the hillside. Concrete steps lead to the garage at the lower level. The glory of the canyon and Fossil Ridge Park is seen beyond.

Symmetry adds to the formality of a space. Centering the veranda's fireplace with the whirlpool adds a waterfall feature to the sitting area.
