Three apartments were combined to create this 7 room home in Manhattan's West Village for a young couple and their three small girls. A kids' wing boasts a colorful playroom, a butterfly-themed bedroom, and a bath. The parents' wing includes a home office for two (which also doubles as a guest room), two walk-in closets, a master bedroom & bath. A family room leads to a gracious living/dining room for formal entertaining. A large eat-in kitchen and laundry room complete the space. TOMI, photographer. Library with wonderful old pine paneling in entire room. The back of the bookcases were painted red to bring the color into the rest of the room. Whimsical red, blue and beige curtains were used to bring some humor into this lovely library. Chairs were recovered when the client moved into this house. The blue in this room leads you into the blue and white sunroom beyond.

This newly renovated Teen Lounge is the perfect spot for your teenage and adult children to hang out with their friends and call their own! Completed in Bloomfield Hills, MI in October 2021, our client wanted a room that would provide a spot their children would want to come home to after school or visit with friends after hours. It also needed to pass the test of time. To achieve this, we installed prefinished hardwood flooring, a large sectional and two lounge chairs for an abundance of seating options for guests and/or gaming. The finishes and color scheme are mature, easily maintained and timeless.

This country inspired TV room provides for a family gathering or space for quiet reading. We are extremely proud of this client home as it was done during the 1st shutdown in 2020 while working remotely! Working with our client closely, we completed all of their selections on time for their builder, Broadview Homes. Combining contemporary finishes with warm greys and light woods make this home a blend of comfort and style. The white clean lined hoodfan by Hammersmith, and the floating maple open shelves by Woodcraft Kitchens create a natural elegance. The black accents and contemporary lighting by Cartwright Lighting make a statement throughout the house. We love the central staircase, the grey grounding cabinetry, and the brightness throughout the home. This home is a showstopper, and we are so happy to be a part of the amazing team!

Small Traditional Games Room Ideas and Designs

If you’re lucky enough to have more than one reception room then you have a bit more freedom when deciding what to do with your secondary space. Families with children or just young-at-heart adults could opt for a family room or traditional games room; whether it’s a pool or snooker table room, a comfy relaxation or TV area, a video games haven, a playroom packed with toys or a sports room with accompanying bar. Usually traditional games rooms are naturally fun, recreational spaces so it’s important that the furnishings are functional but enjoyable with an emphasis on comfort, storage, games and entertainment. If you have the scope, family room extensions are a great way of extending from your kitchen or other area of your house to create a whole new, dedicated family space or traditional games room. Basements are also wonderfully suited to house games rooms as they are usually soundproof and secluded so that loud games, films and cheers of success or failure won’t be heard next door or upstairs. Add coffee tables and side tables for holding glasses and plates (if they’re allowed), books, magazines and all the other knick-knacks that accumulate in a family room.
