Library / Multi-Purpose Room
The goal was to create a versatile room for reading, gaming, websurfing, etc. Big sliding doors and windows make the room very bright, so deep dusky aqua looked right on the walls. Generous, chocolate brown curtain panels on big wooden rings hang on the the sliding doors and block the light for TV viewing times. This room houses our more traditional furniture -- not too mid-century in here -- but it looks right, and richly layered, somehow. We lucked out -- dimensions were perfect to install Ikea shelving -- we got the look of built-in bookcases for under $1,000.
