Edmond Kitchen & Bath LLCThis creative transitional space was transformed from a very dated layout that did not function well for our homeowners - who enjoy cooking for both their family and friends. They found themselves cooking on a 30" by 36" tiny island in an area that had much more potential. A completely new floor plan was in order. An unnecessary hallway was removed to create additional space and a new traffic pattern. New doorways were created for access from the garage and to the laundry. Just a couple of highlights in this all Thermador appliance professional kitchen are the 10 ft island with two dishwashers (also note the heated tile area on the functional side of the island), double floor to ceiling pull-out pantries flanking the refrigerator, stylish soffited area at the range complete with burnished steel, niches and shelving for storage. Studio DearbornThis expansive Victorian had tremendous historic charm but hadn’t seen a kitchen renovation since the 1950s. The homeowners wanted to take advantage of their views of the backyard and raised the roof and pushed the kitchen into the back of the house, where expansive windows could allow southern light into the kitchen all day. A warm historic gray/beige was chosen for the cabinetry, which was contrasted with character oak cabinetry on the appliance wall and bar in a modern chevron detail. Liddicoat & GoldhillThis house lies on a mid-century modern estate in Holland Park by celebrated architects Maxwell Fry and Jane Drew. Built in 1966, the estate features red brick terraces with integrated garages and generous communal gardens.
The project included a rear extension in matching brick, internal refurbishment and new landscaping. Original internal partitions were removed to create flexible open plan living spaces. A new winding stair is finished in powder coated steel and oak. This compact stair results in significant additional useable floor area on each level.
The rear extension at ground floor creates a kitchen and social space, with a large frameless window allowing new views of the side garden. White oiled oak flooring provides a clean contemporary finish, while reflecting light deep into the room. Dark blue ceramic tiles in the garden draw inspiration from the original tiles at the entrance to each house. Bold colour highlights continue in the kitchen units, new stair and the geometric tiled bathroom.
At first floor, a flexible space can be separated with sliding doors to create a study, play room and a formal reception room overlooking the garden. The study is located in the original shiplap timber clad bay, that cantilevers over the main entrance.
The house is finished with a selection of mid-century furniture in keeping with the era.

Howells Architecture + DesignThis kitchen and breakfast room was inspired by the owners' Scandinavian heritage, as well as by a café they love in Europe. Bookshelves in the kitchen and breakfast room make for easy lingering over a snack and a book. The Heath Ceramics tile backsplash also subtly celebrates the author owner and her love of literature: the tile pattern echoes the spines of books on a bookshelf...All photos by Laurie Black.

MainStreet Design BuildThis stately Tudor, located in Bloomfield Hills needed a kitchen that reflected the grandeur of the exterior architecture. Plato Woodwork custom cabinetry was the client's first choice and she was immediately drawn to the subtle amenities like carved turnings, corbels and hand-applied glaze. The coffered ceiling over the island gave additional warmth to the room. Choosing Subzero and Wolf appliances that could be completely integrated was key to the design.

McClure Contracting, Inc.This was a whole house remodel, the owners are more transitional in style, and they had a lot of special requests including the suspended bar seats on the bar, as well as the geometric circles that were custom to their space. The doors, moulding, trim work and bar are all completely custom to their aesthetic interests.
We tore out a lot of walls to make the kitchen and living space a more open floor plan for easier communication,
The hidden bar is to the right of the kitchen, replacing the previous closet pantry that we tore down and replaced with a framed wall, that allowed us to create a hidden bar (hidden from the living room) complete with a tall wine cooler on the end of the island.
