Our design process is set up to tease out what is unique about a project and a client so that we can create something peculiar to them. When we first went to see this client, we noticed that they used their fridge as a kind of notice board to put up pictures by the kids, reminders, lists, cards etc… with magnets onto the metal face of the old fridge. In their new kitchen they wanted integrated appliances and for things to be neat, but we felt these drawings and cards needed a place to be celebrated and we proposed a cork panel integrated into the cabinet fronts… the idea developed into a full band of cork, stained black to match the black front of the oven, to bind design together. It also acts as a bit of a sound absorber (important when you have 3yr old twins!) and sits over the splash back so that there is a lot of space to curate an evolving backdrop of things you might pin to it. In this design, we wanted to design the island as big table in the middle of the room. The thing about thinking of an island like a piece of furniture in this way is that it allows light and views through and around; it all helps the island feel more delicate and elegant… and the room less taken up by island. The frame is made from solid oak and we stained it black to balance the composition with the stained cork. The sink run is a set of floating drawers that project from the wall and the flooring continues under them - this is important because again, it makes the room feel more spacious. The full height cabinets are purposefully a calm, matt off white. We used Farrow and Ball ’School house white’… because its our favourite ‘white’ of course! All of the whitegoods are integrated into this full height run: oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and a gigantic pantry cupboard. A sweet detail is the hand turned cabinet door knobs - The clients are music lovers and the knobs are enlarged versions of the volume knob from a 1970s record player.

This bespoke family kitchen was part of the renovation of a period home in Frome. The ground floor is a half basement and struggled with dark rooms and a layout that did not function well for family life. New windows were added to the adjoining dining room and crisp white finishes and clever lighting have transformed the space. Bespoke cabinets maximised the limited head height and corner space. Designed in a classic shaker style and painted in Hopper by Little Greene with classic burnished brass ironmongery, it is a timeless design.

By keeping the cabinetry around the perimeter of the room in Dove Grey, gave the room a crisp, light feel to it but we wanted to add some depth and the contrast of the island is Charcoal gave us exactly that. The space flows effortlessly from kitchen to garden, perfect for BBQ's in the summer evenings. The positioning of the bar stools on the island works well not only for casual socialising but also just enjoying a coffee in this fabulous new space overlooking the garden.

The Brief Designer Aron was tasked with creating the most of a wrap-around space in this Brighton property. For the project an on-trend theme was required, with traditional elements to suit the required style of the kitchen area. Every inch of space was to be used to fit all kitchen amenities, with plenty of storage and new flooring to be incorporated as part of the works. Design Elements To match the trendy style of this property, and the Classic theme required by this client, designer Aron has condured a traditional theme of sage green and oak. The sage green finish brings subtle colour to this project, with oak accents used in the window framing, wall unit cabinetry and built-in dresser storage. The layout is cleverly designed to fit the space, whilst including all required elements. Selected appliances were included in the specification of this project, with a reliable Neff Slide & Hide oven, built-in microwave and dishwasher. This client’s own Smeg refrigerator is a nice design element, with an integrated washing machine also fitted behind furniture. Another stylistic element is the vanilla noir quartz work surfaces that have been used in this space. These are manufactured by supplier Caesarstone and add a further allure to this kitchen space. Special Inclusions To add to the theme of the kitchen a number of feature units have been included in the design. Above the oven area an exposed wall unit provides space for cook books, with another special inclusion the furniture that frames the window. To enhance this feature Aron has incorporated downlights into the furniture for ambient light. Throughout these inclusions, highlights of oak add a nice warmth to the kitchen space. Beneath the stairs in this property an enhancement to storage was also incorporated in the form of wine bottle storage and cabinetry. Classic oak flooring has been used throughout the kitchen, outdoor conservatory and hallway. Project Highlight The highlight of this project is the well-designed dresser cabinet that has been custom made to fit this space. Designer Aron has included glass fronted cabinetry, drawer and cupboard storage in this area which adds important storage to this kitchen space. For ambience downlights are fitted into the cabinetry. The End Result The outcome of this project is a great on-trend kitchen that makes the most of every inch of space, yet remaining spacious at the same time. In this project Aron has included fantastic flooring and lighting improvements, whilst also undertaking a bathroom renovation at the property. One of our favourite handleless Shaker kitchens that we have recently installed is this kitchen in Hampstead. We love the 'Basalt' paint colour by Little Greene and it goes perfectly with the Teltos Statuario worktops. The beautiful oak herringbone floor adds warmth to create a lovely homely space. We also love the reeded glass wall cupboards surrounding the Falmec Pro Zeus extractor.

For the island, we added hidden cupboard space under the seating area, for the seldom used items. Also, incorporating a drawer with a double plug and USB point. Hiding unsightly cables with the ease of charging at the same time. To complement the curved island top, we mirrored this on the ceiling to enhance a softness to the design. To eradicate the need of an overhead extractor fan, we used a Bora Pure recirculation extractor hob. The optimal airflow offers reduced noise when used and all odours are immediately captured at surface height. Perfect when entertaining.

We are proud to present this breath-taking kitchen design that blends traditional and modern elements to create a truly unique and personal space. Upon entering, the Crittal-style doors reveal the beautiful interior of the kitchen, complete with a bespoke island that boasts a curved bench seat that can comfortably seat four people.
