A very traditional kitchen in a beautiful Georgian home. The kitchen was designed around the Aga and an antique table as the focal points. The client wanted a calm and elegant space which felt as if it belonged to the house. The very simple cabinetry with no modern appliances on show creates a harmonious space, perfect for entertaining and family life. The traditional brass ironmongery and taps will age beautifully, as will the stunning marble tops and splashback. The shelf adds space for displaying treasured possessions and hides some practical lighting for the worktops. The modern fridge freezer is hidden in an old walk in pantry which provides space for food storage as well. The wall units which surround an existing archway to the snug form the perfect space for storing glassware and crockery.

The mixture of grey green cabinets with the distressed wood floors and ceilings, gives this farmhouse kitchen a feeling of warmth. Cabinets: Brookhaven and the color is Green Stone Benjamin Moore paint color: There's not an exact match for Green Stone, but Gettysburg Grey, HC 107 is close. Sink: Krauss, model KHF200-30, stainless steel Faucet: Kraus, modelKPF-1602 Hardware: Restoration hardware, Dakota cup and Dakota round knob. The finish was either the chestnut or iron. Floors: European Oak that is wired brushed. The company is Provenza, Pompeii collection and the color is Amiata. Distressed wood: The wood is cedar that's been treated to look distressed! My client is brilliant , so he did some googling (is that a word?) and came across several sites that had a recipe to do just that. He put a steel wool pad into a jar of vinegar and let it sit for a bit. In another jar, he mixed black tea with water. Brush the tea on first and let it dry. This kitchen originally had a long island that the owners needed to walk around to access the butler’s pantry, which was a major reason for the renovation. The island was separated in order to have a better traffic flow – with one island for cooking with a prep sink and the second offering seating and storage. 2″ thick mitered honed Stuario Gold marble countertops are accented by soft satin brass hardware, while the backsplash is a unique jet-cut white marble in an arabesque pattern. The perimeter inset cabinetry is painted a soft white. while the islands are a warm grey. The window wall features a 5-foot-long stone farm sink with two faucets, while a 60″ range and two full 30″ ovens are located on the opposite wall. A custom hood with elegant, gentle sloping lines is embellished with a hammered antique brass collar and antique pewter rivets.

This Wedgewood stove is considered the Queen of the line. They started production in the late 1940's and this one is from about 1951. It has 4 burners, a large gas griddle, two ovens, and two broilers, as well as a collapsible shelf to hold your vintage salt & pepper collection. Custom hood surround made of drywall and oak moulding is designed to hold a piece of artwork, which can be swapped out for a change. This vintage oil still life of fruit looks perfect in a kitchen! You can add a breakfast bar or counter to your existing kitchen units, or stick with a good old-fashioned dining table if you don’t need the extra work surfaces. There are a huge variety of island designs to cater to different needs – you can have sinks, ovens, hobs, wine storage and all sorts of drawers and organisers built-in, you can have separate bars and counters that extend from your island, or you could go for a kitchen island on wheels to make your kitchen layout more versatile.

How do I choose my kitchen units and cabinets?

When picking out kitchen units and cupboard styles for a fitted kitchen, you’ll first want to consider the more practical questions – how many units do you need? It’s always best to overestimate how much kitchen storage you’ll need as we all tend to have a habit of filling up whatever current space we have to the maximum. Shaker style cabinets and raised and recessed panel cabinets offer a more traditional kitchen cabinet look, while flat panel cabinet doors tend to lend more to the modern and contemporary style.
