Kitchen, Bar, Laundry Remodel

This kitchen started out as an 80’s kitchen. It was functional for the homeowner but just dated and didn’t give them all of the features they were looking for in a high end kitchen. The project started by doing a design consultation with them to find out what worked for them and what didn’t, it was clear that the cabinets were going to have to be custom to meet their needs. They needed more specific storage for different types of pots and pans. It was also evident that the project was going to take on not just the kitchen but also the bar area, pantry, work station area and the laundry room. Demo was done to remove all old cabinets and flooring. The homeowners decided on a 20”x20” tile for the floor which encompassed the kitchen, laundry room, bar and a half bathroom. The cabinets which are made out of cherry with a rich cherry finish. The island was redesigned and set so that the cook top was closer to the rest of the work area and it was also built to add additional seating at a different height compared to the work area. In the island 2 large drawers were built to hold different sizes of cooking pans and then extra storage was built in the end cabinets for sheet pans. All drawers have full extension slides which makes it great for getting to the back of the drawers. Large crown molding was installed at the top of all cabinets to finish off the custom look. An office/work station was made to give the homeowner a place to work on bills, house a small TV and space for china. All custom cabinets were made for the bar area and a place for bottles of wine. The laundry area included upper cabinets and a large countertop for laying out laundry and it includes a large laundry sink. The pantry is totally custom. It has large pull outs for box and can goods. There is a large pull out in the center for spices. All of this closes up behind two large swing doors that operate a light switch which turns on when opened. All of the appliances are high end stainless steel made by Wolf and Subzero. Extra can lights were incorporated in the ceiling to accent all of the cooking and eating areas. Pendants hang over the island and add style to the kitchen. The back splash is an italian tile with a fired glazed finish which was installed on the diagonal and the countertops are granite.
