A Modern Farmhouse set in a prairie setting exudes charm and simplicity. Wrap around porches and copious windows make outdoor/indoor living seamless while the interior finishings are extremely high on detail. In floor heating under porcelain tile in the entire lower level, Fond du Lac stone mimicking an original foundation wall and rough hewn wood finishes contrast with the sleek finishes of carrera marble in the master and top of the line appliances and soapstone counters of the kitchen. This home is a study in contrasts, while still providing a completely harmonious aura.

By TFLarkin. What do you do when the windows get in the way of the crown? Well, in this case we cut into the crown and added side walls to make it look like the windows were "hewn" right into the crown. This was also done 15 feet up. www.TFLarkin.com

This lower-level entertainment area and spare bedroom is the perfect flex space for game nights, family gatherings, and hosting overnight guests. We furnished the space in a soft palette of light blues and cream-colored neutrals. This palette feels cohesive with the other rooms in the home and helps the area feel bright, with or without great natural lighting. For functionality, we also offered two seating options, this 2-3 person sofa and a comfortable upholstered chair that can be easily moved to face the TV or cozy up to the ottoman when you break out the board games.

In the basement living area, we were required by code to provide an egress window well to allow the occupants to escape the building in the event of an emergency. We solved this need by creating a built-in window seat, which features the beautiful stone work of the retaining wall outside. Who says that subterranean needs to be without natural light and beauty?
