Beautiful Feng Shui feeling in a back yard on Cape Cod. A Japanese Maple can really be a statement piece ~ creating a mood for the entire space.

This backyard is what Kids and Parents dream about! The yard was large, over grown, and lacked a clear definition of what the space was for. With two young, energetic girls, who love to explore, the owner wanted to keep it as natural as possible, but add several new elements. A fireplace was added to the patio area which created indoor-outdoor living. A small outdoor kitchen was added for entertaining. A large pool with Baja shelf , a Jacuzzi, and seats through out create an oasis as the focal point. The bike paths were defined by gravel. We removed two enormous trees and used them to mulch the entire yard. The trunks were used as a fun obstacle course. A shady area was kept for the tire swing and picnic area. And the finishing touch; handprints in the new sidewalk!

Built at the Heart of Georgia Tech's gorgeous campus – the student center is a gathering place for all. When the outdoor area needed a facelift, Yonah Mountain Timber Frames' team were brought in… Kebony (a modified wood product) was used to build the boardwalks, bridges, and benches throughout this community space. Naturally greyed over time, this patina boardwalk maintains the same structural durability as traditional hardwoods even though it is a thermally modified Softwood. Transformation of a typical Wellington backyard from a bare grass slope to a low maintenance and very functional space. x3 retaining walls have been constructed to terrace the site out and maximize space on the sloped section. The owners are keen gardeners and now are delighted to have high yielding vegetable gardens that are accessible (also to elderly) Remaining gardens are planted out with New Zealand Natives and a native tree was successfully transplanted onsite. Pathways have been finished predominantly with compacted aggregate to keep cost down yet maintain a very solid and skid resistant surface. Paving stones have been laid under a re-positioned existing washing line which leads onto over-sized stairs up to an existing Gazebo. The main access to the house has been upgraded with a new staircase that spirals through the trees up to the street above with a single sided handrail.

The poor drainage of the lot gave us the opportunity to create a striking cat walk and drainage feature, which left ample room for their vegetable and herb garden hobby.

After their brand new construction was completed, this family had a beautiful and comfortable home that truly fit their needs. However, this new construction lacked an outdoor living space, which left the backyard feeling stark and bare. With this blank slate, we were able to create a relaxing environment for this family to enjoy. Faced with the challenge of using every square-inch of this small space, Native Edge was able to design a landscape that left this family worry-free. We incorporated a low maintenance composite decking system, modern raised metal planters, and a bubbling urn water feature to tie this peaceful landscape together. The poor drainage of the lot gave us the opportunity to create a striking cat walk and drainage feature, which left ample room for their vegetable and herb garden hobby. There is even a nook for the family dog to enjoy!
