While working with this couple on their master bathroom, they asked us to renovate their kitchen which was still in the 70’s and needed a complete demo and upgrade utilizing new modern design and innovative technology and elements. We transformed an indoor grill area with curved design on top to a buffet/serving station with an angled top to mimic the angle of the ceiling. Skylights were incorporated for natural light and the red brick fireplace was changed to split face stacked travertine which continued over the buffet for a dramatic aesthetic. The dated island, cabinetry and appliances were replaced with bark-stained Hickory cabinets, a larger island and state of the art appliances. The sink and faucet were chosen from a source in Chicago and add a contemporary flare to the island. An additional buffet area was added for a tv, bookshelves and additional storage. The pendant light over the kitchen table took some time to find exactly what they were looking for, but we found a light that was minimalist and contemporary to ensure an unobstructed view of their beautiful backyard. The result is a stunning kitchen with improved function, storage, and the WOW they were going for.

Installation of a gas fireplace in a family room: This design is painted tumbled brick with solid red oak mantle. The owner wanted shiplap to extend upward from the mantle and tie into the ceiling. The stack was designed to carry up through the roof to provide proper ventilation in a coastal environment. The Household WIFI/Sonos/Surround sound system is integrated behind the TV.

We refinished the original 1950's hardwood flooring with a custom stain and matte finish. The feature corner fireplace surround is covered with large format tiles that includes an intricate step detail down to the wall mounted Samsung art tv. We vaulted the ceiling and added two large skylights.

These sweet widowed retirees met at church, fell in love and married in 2019. Soon after, they moved into one of the lovely estate homes at Dunwoody Village. The leather sofas that they purchased turned out to be too low and soft to meet their needs. We selected a beautiful, supportive sofa upholstered with a worry free performance fabric and two lovely swivel chairs in a coordinating fabric. The wood cocktail table has a unique contrasting woven accents. The generously sized ceramic lamps on the graceful end tables offer ample light.They needed window treatments to enliven the decor. The artful floral fabric chosen for the drapery is a perfect fit for the lady of the house, who is an avid gardener and painter. The same fabric was used on the smart valances in the kitchen to tie the adjoining spaces together. The trellis wall paper on the vaulted ceiling makes the space feel like an atrium in springtime.

If you’re lucky enough to have more than one reception room then you have a bit more freedom when deciding what to do with your secondary space. Families with children or just young-at-heart adults could opt for a family room or games room; whether it’s a pool or snooker table room, a comfy relaxation or TV area, a video games haven, a playroom packed with toys or a sports room with accompanying bar. Usually games rooms are naturally fun, recreational spaces so it’s important that the furnishings are functional but enjoyable with an emphasis on comfort, storage, games and entertainment. If you have the scope, family room extensions are a great way of extending from your kitchen or other area of your house to create a whole new, dedicated family space or games room. Basements are also wonderfully suited to house games rooms as they are usually soundproof and secluded so that loud games, films and cheers of success or failure won’t be heard next door or upstairs. What furniture does my family room or games room need?

This should be a relaxing place that promotes fun and socialisation, so fill the room with comfortable seating. Plush armchairs, wide sofas, bean bags and reclining chairs are all great games room ideas that promote R&R. Add coffee tables and side tables for holding glasses and plates (if they’re allowed), books, magazines and all the other knick-knacks that accumulate in a family room. TV stands or media units are great for keeping DVDs, audio systems, gaming consoles and all other gadgetry neat and organised. A cosy rug will be a great addition but make sure it doesn’t easily slip under fast moving feet! Fill the room with features your family love – films, board games, books, music and perhaps sports memorabilia. Keep decor functional and practical – pristine white upholstery and rugs are probably not the ticket for the hustle and bustle of a games or family room. If you love light or neutral tones family room ideas that could work include light leather sofas, which will be easy to clean in the case of any spills, and soft coloured cushions and throws that can be thrown in the washing machine whenever necessary.
