Centennial Park
The overarching brief for the Centennial Park residence was to overhaul an existing art ānā crafts house built in 1908 and take into consideration the many alterations and additional extensions completed throughout the last 100 years.
The client wanted to upgrade and remove the poorly built renovation that occurred in the 1980s, the terracotta floors, green laminates and yellow walls but to also respect and compliment the renovation from the late 1920s that introduced some distinct art deco features and curves, including rounded sandstone columns that the client adored.
Working with Interior designer Isabelle Harris Design, the main design goal of Spicer Architecture was to create a modern fusion between the houseās unique deco features and use these to inspire a clean, modern, sophisticated contemporary renovation.
There was also a desire for the renovation to evoke a sense of softness to allow the spaces to feel relaxed, timeless and understated despite their opulent appearance with the kitchen becoming the show place of the home, where families come together and guests gather to savour shared experiences.
